Ancona Duck
The Ancona Duck is a rare, eye-catching, and highly productive heritage breed known for its unique broken-pattern plumage and friendly, calm temperament. Each Ancona displays a one-of-a-kind mix of colors—typically black, chocolate, lavender, blue, or silver patches on a white background—making them one of the most beautifully patterned duck breeds available.
Anconas are excellent layers, producing 200–280 large white, cream, or tinted eggs per year. They are hardy, adaptable ducks that thrive in a variety of climates and are well known for their strong foraging ability. Their calm, gentle nature makes them great for families, small farms, and backyard keepers.
This breed is also valued for its sturdiness and resilience. Anconas are less prone to flightiness, making them easy to manage around children and other animals. They enjoy roaming, swimming, and exploring their environment while still being content in secure setups when needed.
