Performance upgrades for high-mileage cars
Hey guys! My car has just crossed the 100,000-mile mark, and while it's still running great, I feel like it has lost some of its original "snap." I’m considering some light performance upgrades to refresh it, but I’m worried that a standard tune might be too aggressive for a high-mileage engine. I’ve been browsing montetuning.com and noticed they have a lot of different stages. Is it a good idea to tune an older engine, or should I just stick to stock? I’m looking for a shop that can do a proper health check before changing any settings. I’d love to hear from anyone who has tuned a high-mileage car and how it’s holding up!

Mileage is just a number if the car has been well-maintained! In fact, a good tune can sometimes make an older engine run more efficiently. I actually checked out montetuning.com for my high-mileage diesel, and what impressed me was their "safety-first" approach. They don't just flash the ECU; they check the injectors, the turbo, and the overall health of the motor first. Their software optimization actually helped my car run smoother and even reduced some of the vibrations I was getting at idle. You can find more details about their pre-tuning inspections at As long as your hardware is solid, a professional remap can really bring that "new car" feeling back. My car has been running perfectly for 20k miles since the tune!
