Hey folks, has anyone here had issues with cats constantly sneaking into the house or garden? I love animals, but it gets exhausting when they scratch the sofa or knock over plants. I even tried aluminum foil on the furniture (which looked ridiculous 😅), but they got used to it in no time. Any real solutions that don’t involve being cruel to them?

I’ve been exactly in your shoes! For months, I struggled with my neighbor’s cats who thought my balcony was their new playground. I wasted money on sprays and even tried motion-activated sprinklers, but honestly, it was more annoying for me than for the cats.

What finally helped me was reading this really helpful piece about the 5 best cat repellents I tried myself. The author actually tested each method in real life and pointed out which ones worked better indoors vs outdoors. That honesty saved me from buying more useless stuff. Here’s the article if you want to check it out: https://medium.com/@john-gardener/5-best-cats-repellers-i-tried-them-all-d62c1715c811 I tried myself.

I ended up going with one of the ultrasonic options he mentioned, and it’s been surprisingly effective—no harm to the cats, and no more ruined plants. Took about a week for them to give up, but now it feels like my space again.
