For a long time, I thought it was best to collect currency gradually without looking at rarity. Currency is certainly fun in PoE, but you have to realize that every use of it has to be justified. For example, I always try to use “fire orb” on my high-level items to improve the chance of getting the right mod. But “Byzantine Orb” often lets me down when I use it to rewrite rare modifiers. It's important to take your time and realize that not every currency is worth its cost.
