Flashtool is a software that allows you to flash firmware files on Sony Xperia devices with unlocked bootloaders. It can be useful if you want to update your phone to a newer version of Android or restore it to stock firmware. In this article, we will show you how to download and install Flashtool drivers for Xperia arc S, a 2011 model that runs on Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich.

Step 1: Download Flashtool and firmware file

To use Flashtool, you need to download and install it on your PC. You can get it from Sony Developer World [^1^]. If you own the Xperia Z or Xperia ZL, you need to download the Flashtool Beta from here [^3^]. You also need to download the firmware file for your Xperia arc S. You can find it on Xperia Blog Forum [^2^]. The file name is Xperia arc S_LT18i_4.1.B.0.431_Global_Generic.ftf and it is about 300 MB in size.

Step 2: Enable USB debugging and unknown sources on your phone

Before you connect your phone to your PC, you need to enable USB debugging and unknown sources on your phone. These options allow your phone to communicate with your PC and install firmware files from Flashtool. To enable USB debugging, go to Settings > Developer options and check the box next to USB debugging. To enable unknown sources, go to Settings > Security and check the box next to Unknown sources.

Step 3: Place firmware file in Flashtool folder

After you have downloaded and installed Flashtool and the firmware file, you need to place the firmware file in the correct location on your PC. The default location is C:\\Flashtool\\firmwares. If you have changed the installation directory of Flashtool, make sure you copy the firmware file to the firmwares folder inside it.

Step 4: Launch Flashtool and select flash mode

Now you are ready to flash your phone with Flashtool. Open the Flashtool application on your PC and click on the lightning bolt symbol at the top left corner. Select Flashmode and click OK.

Step 5: Select firmware and flash your phone

In the next window, you will see a list of firmware files available in the firmwares folder. Select the one that matches your phone model and region, which is Xperia arc S_LT18i_4.1.B.0.431_Global_Generic.ftf in this case. If you do not want to do a clean install, make sure Data is not ticked in the Wipe section. Click on Flash button at the bottom right corner.

Flashtool will then ask you to connect your phone in flash mode. To do this, turn off your phone and hold the volume down button while plugging in the USB cable to your PC. You should see a green LED light on your phone indicating that it is in flash mode.

Flashtool will then start flashing the firmware file on your phone. Do not disconnect your phone or interrupt the process until it is finished. You will see a message saying Flashing finished when it is done.

Congratulations! You have successfully flashed your Xperia arc S with Flashtool. You can now unplug your phone and turn it on normally. e0e6b7cb5c
