To get skins you must open cases.
The “Prisma 2″ case
These bad boys cost roughly $2,5 to open and can give you a variety of skins. There are other cases that are more expensive, but let’s just stick to these normal ones.
So these cases give you skins that come in different qualities. Sorting by worst to best, you’ve got Blue-Purple-Pink-Red-Gold.
The better the color, the rarer it is to get when opening a case. For example, the change of unboxing a gold-rated skin, a knife, is 1 in 400, 0,25%. So for every 400 cases you buy, costing $1000 to open in total, you should get one knife.
But that’s not where it ends. These skins themselves come with different rarities. Skins come from, sorted by worst to best, Battle-scarred - Well-worn - Field-tested - Minimal-wear - Factory-new. So not only can you get a nice skin, you can also get it in factory new, meaning that it’s rarer and even more expensive.
Furthermore, skins can come in Stattrak versions. This means that the skins have counters that count how many enemies you’ve killed with the gun. Remember how getting a knife was a 1/400 chance? Well, getting a stattrak knife is 1/4000, 0.025%. For every 10 skins you get, 1 of them is stattrak.
Some skins even have different colours they come in! The skin “Doppler” can come in full blue and red, but most of the time they’re just blue-ish black.
